Legend has it that Bran the Builder worked alongside the Giants to help raise the Wall. While this may be true, it is further believed that he might have used magic to enslave them for this purpose. The only remaining Giants have risen from the dead as Wights. The Children of the Forest are some of the most mysterious of all the legendary creatures in Westeros. Legend has it, they were the first inhabitants of the region said to have settled the land some 12, years before Robert's Rebellion.

They are called the Children of the Forest due to their childlike appearance, even after maturing into adulthood. They live for an incredibly long time, their hands have only four fingers, they have a respect for nature, which they worship, and are able to use magic, but there isn't much more known about them.

As far as anyone knows, they went extinct long ago. Wights are the undead army of the White Walkers. They are incredibly dangerous, seeing as their recruitment campaign is so effective. Once they kill someone, that person is then resurrected to join the ranks. The White Walkers appear to have the ability to reanimate the dead regardless of their species, though the majority of their horde consists of former humans.

Like other zombies from fiction, they aren't as easy to "kill" as they should be. Chopping them up won't stop them, but they are vulnerable to fire. Attacking them with flaming weapons will put them down permanently, which gives hope to any army equipped with a dragon or two. Shadows are demons born of darkness that are created or brought into the world via the Lord of Light. They can be called upon to undertake dangerous missions or carry out assassinations.

A Shadow was borne from the union of Stannis Baratheon and Melisandre for the sole purpose of killing Renly Baratheon. Shadows are somewhat ethereal shadowy beings capable of intangibility. They are able to form their bodies into solid shapes, which can be used as weapons to wreak havoc among the living.

When their tasks are complete, a Shadow ceases to exist and returns to whatever evil plain from which it originated.

As such, its canonical status in relation to the TV series is uncertain. He was one of Amaya's followers. He seemed to know Beskha as he call her "Beskha the Basilisk".

The Beast is first seen talking to another pit fighter. He has little patience for Asher Forrester , and threatens to kill him. However, after Asher defeats Bloodsong he comes to respect the Westerosi , and follows him to Westeros. When the Forresters and the pit fighters are ambushed by the Whitehills upon Asher's arrival in Westeros, The Beast is hit by several arrows while trying to lift the gate. He is killed by Gryff Whitehill 's right-hand man, Harys , with a spear thrown through his side.

If a gigantic grizzly bear can't eat a couple of downed humans when trapped in a pit with them, it's not going to last very long against some of the other Game of Thrones beasts. This is why, undoubtedly, the grizzly bear from season 3 episode 7 is the worst animal in Game of Thrones. Apart from being useful for Bran to see where the Night King and his army is, the Ravens are merely just Game of Thrones ' version of the Harry Potter owl.

Countless times throughout the series do we hear 'send a raven' -- so much so that it's even become a meme. Ravens are used to deliver information across Westeros and beyond, but doesn't really have anything in its arsenal when it comes to being deadly. A lesser-known being in the Game of Thrones catalog is the Manticore. A Manticore is a scorpion-like insect that sort of looks like it could be from the spider family … or lobster.

They are used as assassination weapons in Essos as their venom is deadly. The Manticore features on screen in season 3 when Daenerys Targaryen has an assignation attempt on her by someone belonging to the Warlocks of Qarth.

The venom from the Manticore is also used by Oberyn Martell when he fights The Mountain and is the reason The Mountain was so heavily wounded after the fight. One of the trademarked Bolton house attacks was 'flaying'. We never actually see how the infamous Ramsay Bolton finishes off his victims of said flaying, but his beloved flesh-eating hounds probably have something to do with it.

The dogs themselves are pretty brutal, Ramsay frequently feeds them the enemies that cross his path, and in the end, the dogs actually end up eating Ramsay themselves, as his plan in Battle of the Bastards falls apart. The Children of the Forest are classed in Game of Thrones as non-human, so they have to be included on our list of beasts.

The Children of the Forest are apparently the first beings to set foot on Westeros and are the creators of the Night King.
