Disable mfpmp exe

And tracked it back to the SuperFetch service. In reading up on this "handy" little service which is used to trace the changes in memory, could actually be slowing you down! Simplest way, try disabling the Superfetch service and let me know if that helps! I assume this must be a driver issue or possibly the Media Foundation Protected Media Pipeline is doing something with the analog out to ensure I am not pirating material?

Perhaps it ignores digital outputs as they are "safe"? Again, these processes are still running 20min after I close the last WMP session. Thank You soooooo much!!!!!!!! That was the most annoying thing I have had to deal with on Vista. It does not skip, chop or close itself any more, and all my music still works!!!!! Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The problem for me starts when coming back from sleep mode a couple times. There are 3 mfpmp. I must go in and manually end task on all instances of mfpmp.

Where is the fix?! Look at all these complaints! I found that the mfpmp. After changing it and putting it back down it does not even appear on task manager. Playing the same video with Media Player Classic, there's no mfpmp.

Glad this helped. I do think this is a problem with Vista itself, though. The way it processes multi-channel audio must be very inefficient, especially at high bitrates. When you guys use RealPlayer or WinAmp , are the audio effects enabled? If so, do they actually have any effect?

Maybe RP bypasses the audio effects. Can you still play protected content? I'm wondering how RP does it.

It shouldn't matter what player you use - if you try to play protected content, Windows tries to get its grubby hands on it or so I thought. The excess memory issue I just posted is still a valid one, and doesn't change based on this audio frequency setting that is causing the reported high CPU use. I found the music files played OK in Nero playback, but would take ages while "changing media" then stalling while playing in WMP I tried renaming the mfpmp.

I stopped the service and it temporarily seemed to improve it. Really annoying! Thanks Microsoft! So what did everyone else find helped best?

I'm a bit technologically illiterate- this is my first laptop. I've been fighting this problem for a year now. I've tried all of the abouve solutions in this forum plus a complete reinstall of Vista.

The only "solution" I have found so far is. If WMP pegs one of my cores when starting up I will also have the mfpmp. On a single core, this can be controlled. As a person that works in the Technology industry I see alot of clients and not one of them have the same computer specifications or environment. With the fact that there are tens of thousands applications, some of which are tested, recommended and approved, others that are not. I have been running Vista for over a year now both on a 32bit and 64bit machine and I have experienced less issues then when XP first came out.

There is a reason most companies recommend SP2 for XP people. It took a while for Microsoft and its affiiliates to stabilize the OS. Now that it has been proven everyone wants to just sit idle and become complacent with it. Maybe instead of whining about what is wrong with it, you should do some investigation and homework before you install and run anything on your machines.

Oh, and maybe do some maintenance once and a while. You'd be surprised what a disk clean up and defrag will do for your machines.

Take in consideration the type of motherboard, video card and especially drivers. Now, stop your whining and get to work slackers Richard Stallmann wrote: such nonsense.

I know this post was awhile ago but I hope you're not still telling people this - I've just experienced this issue as well as a thirty to fifty second delay in closing an explorer window when previewing an mp3 in preview pane and have solved it completely by removing mfpmp.

I have a mix of protected files purchased online as well as ripped CDs and all that was needed were the codecs to play the files - amply provided by the well regarded Vista Codec Pack version 5. I have even since purchased another song just to be sure and WMP 11 plays it without fail. FYI, in case you still believe what you wrote in '07, please know that it's simply not true today. Enter your email below to get exclusive access to our best articles and tips before everybody else. Hello all. I noticed that when i playing WMP another process is active, mfpmp.

What is the purpose of this process and should i disable it? In theory, mfpmp. If you kill the task, you might have trouble with playback of protected content. I also see that there have been reports of mfpmp. Warning: Once again about user reviews. Our users can freely add their reviews about whatever process they want.

This isn't actually a development question, but I think this section would be the most appropriate for it. Is there a way to disable Media Foundation in Windwos Vista so that it reverts to DirectShow for decoding and playing back files? I ask because mfpmp. This is extremely annoying. I know DirectShow doesn't use or rely on mfpmp. Other reasons for wanting to do this include some DSP and filter effects I like to use in ffdshow. I installed ffdshow on Vista, but the effects don't do anything, presumably because Vista uses Media Foundation and not DirectShow and therefore, ffdshow for decoding.

A somewhat-related question: does Vista have VC1 decoding support? Friday, August 17, PM. And I certainly don't recommend renaming or deleting mfpmp. Tuesday, August 21, PM. The registry key had no effect. In either case, mfpmp. I tried something else though. I renamed mfpmp.
